Becoming Ocean Literate
To be ocean literate is to understand the ocean’s impact on our lives and, equally, our impact on the ocean. This essential understanding is at the heart of the OC Learn Program.
The ocean is the foundation of life on Earth. It provides the water we drink, the air we breathe, and much of the food we eat. It also serves as the largest pathway for mobility and transportation worldwide. Beneath its vast, unexplored waters lie potential resources that could hold solutions for pressing health challenges and climate change.
Our Ocean Skills learning modules build ocean understanding and bring attention to the urgent need for a healthy, thriving ocean—essential to sustaining a habitable planet. Through our programs, we empower learners with the tools and knowledge to protect and restore our ocean for future generations.
Innovation and Entrepreneurial Skills
Innovation and Entrepreneurial skills are essential not only for understanding how to protect our ocean but also for sustainably leveraging its resources.
The ocean innovation landscape is rapidly advancing, offering transformative technologies and solutions to meet future demands across various sectors—from sustainable mobility and food production to eco-friendly packaging, building materials, medicine, and health care.
Our Innovation and Entrepreneurial -skills Learning Modules focus on this evolving landscape, equipping participants with the knowledge and practical tools to transform an early-stage idea into a viable, impactful solution.
Our modules cover the journey from concept and prototype design through technology commercialization to market-readiness, empowering innovators to lead the future of ocean friendly blue economy development.
OC University Program
From Knowledge to Innovation
The OC University Program brings together masterclasses, mentorship, and dynamic challenges like Innothons and Hackathons to empower the next generation of ocean changemakers.
Collaborating with Universities
Our courses and modules are designed in collaboration with universities, allowing seamless integration into specialized curricula, including cross-disciplinary offerings for Master’s students. This partnership approach enriches learning by aligning with academic standards while fostering ocean-focused innovation.
Who can join?
Our OC University Program is open to senior and master’s level university students, as well as early-stage founders and innovators. The only prerequisite is the ability to read and write and successfully pass the Basic Ocean Skills module.
OC Academy
A Deep-Learning Experience
The Ocean Academy offers an immersive deep-learning curriculum that combines ocean science with real-world, solutions-focused entrepreneurship. Participants gain both a scientific foundation and the business skills needed to transform marine challenges into sustainable, commercially viable opportunities within the blue economy.
The Ocean Academy will be launched in 2025 and structured into two learning tracks:

Ocean Skills: Designed to teach a better understanding of ocean science, the challenges the ocean faces and how we can overcome them.

Business Skills: Designed to transfer business knowledge and tools to enable innovators to act in an ocean friendly, sustainable, regenerative and commercially viable way.
Powered by SanaLabs’ cutting-edge learning technology, the program delivers personalized, interactive learning experiences to maximize engagement and retention.
The "Why Care" Online Learning Series
Ocean Knowledge for All
The "Why Care" online learning program offers a growing collection of modules, an open-access educational series designed for anyone passionate about the ocean and wanting to learn more.
The "Why Care" program is designed to spark curiosity and expand global ocean literacy in a fun, engaging, and accessible way. It invites learners of all backgrounds to explore the vital role our ocean plays in sustaining life on Earth, while encouraging deeper exploration into marine science, conservation, and innovation.
The program is structured into three thematic course tracks:
1. Ocean Ecosystems
2. Blue Economy and Blue Technology
3. Environmental Protection and Climate Impact
Our first course, Ocean Ecosystems, features engaging modules such as "Why Care About Sharks", "Why Care About Seahorses, "Why Care About Coral Reefs", and "Why Care About Kelp Forrests".
